A SIMPLE RITUAL
Find a pair. Make a little space.
This is Mahjong Solitaire, a single-player tile-matching puzzle. It is a different game from the multiplayer mahjong played with drawing, discarding and scoring hands.
Look for free tiles.A tile must have nothing above it and an open left or right edge. An open top or bottom edge does not count.
Match identical faces.Select two free tiles with the same design. In this version, flowers match flowers and suns match suns.
Clear the whole table.Plan ahead to uncover layers. If you get stuck, undo a move or shuffle the remaining tiles into a solvable arrangement.
BRING IT TO THE TABLE
Real tiles. Shared evenings.
Enjoy the tiles? These sets are for multiplayer mahjong, usually with four people. They are a different game from the solo puzzle above. Choose the version your group plays.

FROM SCREEN TO TABLE
Curious about the other mahjong?
Start with the version your group plays, then find the right tiles.
Daily table: everyone gets the same Terrace deal for the current UTC date. It is a personal challenge, with no online leaderboard. Hints and shuffles are always available and are counted in your result.
Save & resume: your current board, elapsed playing time and undo history are saved in your browser. Leaving the tab pauses the game. A new game replaces the saved board; clearing browser data removes it. Sound is off by default.
Keyboard: Tab to the board, use arrow keys to move between free tiles, and press Enter or Space to select. H gives a hint, U undoes, S shuffles and P pauses while focus is inside the game. Escape clears your selected tile. Keyboard shortcuts do not apply while a dialog is open.
Solvable starts: a complete legal solution is constructed for each starting deal. Your choices can still lead to a dead end. Undo or shuffle lets you continue without restarting.
