Website hosting and security
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Delivering pages and protecting the site involves processing technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and browser information. Hosting and security logs are separate from the anonymised analytics described below. Hosting providers process information to operate and secure their services; see Hostinger’s Privacy Policy.
Email enquiries
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments or other details you choose to provide. We use them to respond, investigate corrections and handle privacy requests. Email providers process messages during delivery and storage. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any related record-keeping or legal obligations, then delete it when it is no longer needed. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your enquiry.
Local website statistics
We use Dackel Analytics, hosted in this website’s own WordPress database, to understand which pages people use and to improve the site. This analytics tool does not use cookies or browser local storage.
It records page and referrer URLs, browser and device information, approximate location from a local IP-location database, visit timing, scroll depth, outbound-link clicks and downloads. Campaign parameters may be recorded where present. Common sensitive query parameters, such as email and access-token fields, are removed before storage.
IP addresses are reduced to a subnet before analytics storage. A visitor identifier is derived from that subnet and browser family using a secret that changes daily. These statistics are not linked to a name or email address. The analytics records are automatically deleted after 365 days. Administrator changes to the analytics system are recorded separately in an audit log retained for 90 days.
The analytics tool uses a locally downloaded geographic database; visits are not sent to the geographic-database provider. This local analytics description does not apply to hosting logs or information you send by email.
Your browser choices
Dackel Analytics excludes visits when the browser sends Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC). These signals stop collection by this analytics tool; they do not prevent the technical processing needed to serve a page or deliver an email. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Cookies, accounts and third-party services
Public account registration and comments on the published articles are currently closed. WordPress uses cookies for authorised administrator login. The Google Analytics visitor-tracking snippet was disabled on September 7, 2026. Google Analytics is not used to collect new visits through this site’s Site Kit integration after that change. Disabling the snippet does not delete information Google may have received previously; see Google’s explanation of data received from partner sites.
Articles may link to other sites. Following a link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. If a page displays content loaded from another provider, that provider may receive technical information such as your IP address and the page URL. Its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Your privacy requests
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, obtain a copy, or object to or restrict certain uses. Contact us at the address above to make a request. We may need information sufficient to verify and understand it, and some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. We cannot reliably associate the local analytics records with your email address.
Where applicable, US state privacy laws also provide rights concerning the sale or sharing of personal information and non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. You can send a request using the same contact address. California’s official privacy-rights guidance explains the CCPA and its scope. This policy does not assume that every state law applies to every visitor or business.
