Rebellion, a UK-based multimedia studio creating games, TV, books, comics and film, have launched a board game division. Rebellion Unplugged will release physical games and collectibles based on Rebellion’s catalog.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be launching Rebellion Unplugged,” said Rebellion CEO and founder Jason Kingsley. “My brother Chris and I have been making video games for more than 25 years, and our love of the medium has its roots in our childhood love of board games.”
Duncan Molloy, a founder at Osprey Games, will run the new division. The first title will be Sniper Elite, the Board Game, based on the studios’ tactical shooter series.
Designed by David Thompson and Roger Tankersley, the game features hidden movement with bag-manipulation. Art will be provided by the teams behind the videogame series.
The company will debut the game at PAX Unplugged this December and look to launch it on Kickstarter early next year.
Rebellion’s library of IP includes the sci-fi universes of 2000 AD, the upcoming spy-fi lair-builder Evil Genius 2, and the Zombie Army series. The next installment of which, Zombie Army 4: Dead War will release on February 4th.
